..YELLOW FEVER.. Yellow Fever is a relatively new restaurant, which opened up late last year. Ever since last year, I always saw it getting built up whenever I pass by Pop Monster, but never got to try it until now. And so, here is my experience. When I went, it was for a Thursday night din din around 7. The parking lot is pretty small, because they share space with 2-3 other stores. [So, if you do decide to come, go when it's not too busy] There will be a big yellow sign with YELLOW FEVER in block letters above. When you go inside, it's a decently sized area with a bunch of tables and the counter on your right with menu and register. The workers there were pretty helpful, especially that it was my first time going there. The menu on the wall is pretty much like the one below: Since I was new to this place, they gave me the run down. STEP 1) Choose your base of the bowl: White rice, noodles, or salad STEP 2) Choose the flavor: Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Saigon, Bangkok, Californian, or Kona STEP 3) *OPTIONAL: Choose additional toppings: garlic, shallot chips, etc.. Other than the bowls, you have options of "Things to Share" which are lucky pickles, ugly egg rolls, 3 lil pigs, tiger wings, and two different types of french fries: regular and parmesan furikake As for their drinks, they have the regular fountain sodas, but also, iced matcha green tea and homemade lemonade. The KICKER is that they have a specialty drink there which combines them which is called "Bruce Lee." What this drink is made of is the matcha green tea, lemonade, and lychee as well. For our order, we got (pictures below): SEOUL with rice SHANGHAI with rice parmesan furikake fries Bruce Lee SEOUL with rice: This dish had grilled filet mignon with asian slaw, mushrooms, kale, fried egg and gochu sauce. Everything was cooked down except the asian slaw being more fresh. The dish itself was pretty tasty with the gochu sauce (reminded me of kimchi :) ). The fried egg on top was excellent how the yolk was still runny and it just added that eggy flavor to the food.
SHANGHAI with rice (so far my favorite there): This bowl has braised pork belly with sauteed onions, bok choy, asian slaw, shiso leaves and kung pao sauce. Unfortunately, I could barely taste the kung pao sauce in mine, but I loved the mix of veggies that were put in my dish. I put some sriracha in my food and mixed it all together, which made it so much better, instead of picking out of everything. The pork belly was still soft with some of those crispy burnt edges which just made it better. What brought it up there even more was the shiso leaves. I've always liked having shiso leaves or anything closely related to it, like mint leaves in my food and it made the experience better. Parmesan furikake fries: These fries were tasty. The worker there recommended it and I thought it was good, but just good. It was regular fries with parmesan (not melted) on top with furikake, but that sauce they had on the size was something I've never tried. It reminded me of the gochu sauce, but with like mayo or something. If it weren't for that sauce with it, I would of just gave it an okay. I might be too picky, but you guys might like it more! Bruce Lee: This drink was tasty! If you guys like Arnold Palmer, I'm pretty sure you will like this as well. It was quite refreshing and with that hint of lychee in it made it all much better. This place is pretty good, but a bit pricey I would say. All together, it came out to like $30. I would recommend coming here to try it for yourselves. I still gotta try the other bowls, or maybe even with noodles.
