I know what you're thinking...this place is 420 friendly or they use bud in their food?! Well, that's not what you should be thinking. You will soon find out. This place was brought to you by the makers of Kogi Truck. Yes! Roy Choi! Ever since Thrillist posted it, I had to check it out. If you know what POT is, I'm talking about the main restaurant. [skip to next paragraph] If not, let me give you the run down. There are 3 places at the Line Hotel that have POT in it: The cafe, the bar and the restaurant out in the back of them both. I'm talking about that restaurant. Once you enter the hotel, you will see the cafe on your right and the bar on the left with hella tables everywhere. On the right of the bar, if you walk all the way to the back, you will see green neon lights that spell..you guessed it! POT! And you follow that small ass hallway and boom! You're there! When we first went there, around 8. We couldn't even get in, but we were smart the 2nd time. Then, again.. the first time was when it just opened so..makes sense. Back to the point..I suggest going early if you're trying to avoid people. Haha. 1 hour and a 2 halves later, we finally got seated. It's a pretty decent sized restaurant and get this! There were little pockets under the table where your plates, cups, and utensils are. It's like a secret compartment. Pretty sweet! When we got the menu's we were given these bibs that looked like mini aprons. Pretty cool! Also, the menu is made out of newspaper. It's pretty much the picture above where I so handsomely displayed it. Check the menu below: **Note: If you cannot read it, sorry. The website will be provided all the way below! So, since it was our first time, we decided to get the foods that seemed like they would be specialties here. This was our order:
All the pictures are provided below of the foods we got. **Note: Kinda dim in there so the pictures might look weird. But weird is nothing about it. It was good. Oldschool Hotpot: So this contains marinated ribeye bulgogi, noodles, kimchi, scallions and sesame seeds. This hot pot was kinda spicy, but not too much. The flavor was so meaty and rich that it was soooo good all over my rice! ;] It was a nice touch that they use glass noodles, because I don't normally go for noodles, but it absorbed all of the flavor.
Poke Me: This is a pretty tasty appetizer. It's yellow fin tuna with edamame, sea beans, maui onions, smoked sesame and shoyu vinaigrette. It was a nice balance of flavors with a salty rich tangy sauce. The sea beans were a nice touch with it, made me feel healthy. Lol. But if you're not into the raw fish game, I suggest nope. If yes, then hell yes! Potato Pancake: If you ever had a potato pancake, it's pretty similar, but with the fact that these are crispy on the outside and really soft inside. The dipping sauce that accompanies it was a salty slight spicy sauce. It was nice, but after a while you feel the kindey stones picking up. BBQ Spicy Pork: Damn. I'm not gonna lie. I think this was my favorite of everything we ate that night. I dunno if I'm trippen, but this pork was the best bbq spicy pork I've ever had. Like it's pretty high up there!!! I won't describe the wonderful flavor that it has, so it's a must order if you want to get it. Kimchi Fried Rice: This kimchi fried rice was pretty good. Literally what it is called, kimchi and fried rice. The fried rice soaks up all the flavor so the kimchiliciousnes is distributed throughout the whole dish. It wasn't overpowering kimchi and it wasn't super soaked either. It was a nice accompaniment to the bbq spicy pork! :) I would say, if you are in K-Town and are a foodie, this would be a good place to hit up. It's one of those places where you want to try it, at least once, but end up realizing that you want to come back again! Here is the following info below: POT located in the Line Hotel 3515 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90010 (213) 368-3030 Until next time, Happy Eatings!
